🐾 Creating a Calm Space for Your Dog at Home

Posted May 5 | Yorkie Tales Blog – Setareh Yorkies

Just like us, our dogs thrive in an environment that feels safe, cozy, and calm. At Setareh Yorkies, we believe that wellness starts at home—and creating a peaceful, pup-friendly space is one of the simplest ways to support your dog’s emotional and physical health.

Whether you have a spunky Yorkie like Maci or a more reserved soul like Gabby, every dog benefits from having a space that is theirs—a soft landing spot, a retreat, a calming zone.

Here’s how we do it at Setareh—and how you can, too.

🧺 1. Designate a Safe, Cozy Corner

Dogs love routine and comfort. Choose a corner or area in your home where your dog can always retreat to rest.

☁️ Add:

  • A soft bed or blanket

  • A few favorite toys

  • Something with your scent (for comfort)

We call ours the “Yorkie Nook”—and yes, they totally know it’s their spot.

🕯 2. Keep the Energy Calm

Your dog picks up on your energy, the noise level, and even the lighting. For their dedicated calm space, choose a quieter area of the house with soft lighting and minimal foot traffic.

📦 Pro Tip:

Avoid placing their bed near loud appliances like washers or TVs. That calm corner should stay… well, calm.

🌿 3. Support Their Wellness Naturally

Calm isn’t just about physical space—it’s also about emotional balance. We love using tools like:

  • PawTree Calming Support

  • Green Compass CBD Nano Jellies (for us)

  • Lavender-infused sprays (pet safe!)

These small additions can help ease separation anxiety, overstimulation, or just support daily wellness for your pup.

🎵 4. Use Music or White Noise

Believe it or not, soft music or white noise can help your dog feel more secure. It blocks out random sounds (like delivery trucks or doorbells) and adds consistency to their environment.

Try classical music, nature sounds, or even “dog-specific” Spotify playlists (yes, they exist!).

🐶 5. Make It a Routine

Routine creates safety. Incorporate calming moments into your day like:

  • Morning snuggles in their corner

  • Midday naps after a walk

  • A relaxing bedtime chew or treat in their space

Maci has a nightly wind-down ritual and it’s as soothing for me as it is for her 💛

Why It Matters

Your dog gives you so much love—creating a calming, intentional space for them is one of the many ways to return that love daily.

When dogs feel secure in their space, they’re better behaved, more relaxed, and overall healthier. A calm space nurtures a calm dog—and that means a happier, more balanced home for everyone.

No matter how small your space is, you can always carve out a little corner of calm for your furry best friend. And when you do? You’ll both feel the shift 🐾
