Letâs be honest: our Yorkies are a bit spoiled. But in our house, âspoiledâ means well loved and well fedâand that includes treats that do more than just taste good.
Not all dog treats are created equal. So today Iâm sharing a roundup of the snacks my girls go crazy for⌠that also support their health, digestion, energy, and training routines.
Yes, theyâre picky.
Yes, they have opinions.
And yesâthey absolutely deserve the best.
đž What I Look for in a Yorkie Treat:
-
â Single or limited ingredients
-
â No artificial colors, preservatives, or fillers
-
â Small enough for toy breeds or easy to break up
-
â Bonus if they support joint, dental, or digestive health
đ Our Favorite Healthy Treats (Yorkie Approved!)
đ§ 1.
Cheese (Yep, the Real Thing!)
Tiny cubes of cheddar or mozzarella are a high-value reward around hereâespecially during training.
We use it sparingly, but itâs a total favorite for picky days or special rewards.
đ 2.
PawTree Freeze-Dried Chicken Liver
These are an everyday staple.
Theyâre:
-
High-protein
-
Single-ingredient
-
Crumbly enough to break into small pieces
Perfect for training sessions or sprinkling on top of meals.
đ 3.
Fig & Tylerâs 100% Beef Liver
Rich, flavorful, and packed with nutrients like iron and B vitamins.
Plus, theyâre shelf-stable and super easy to toss in the treat jar or a travel bag.
Our girls go wild for theseâand I love that itâs a clean, wholesome option.
đ 4.
Fig & Tylerâs 100% Chicken
Same brand, different proteinâthis oneâs a winner for rotation.
Great for dogs who need a break from red meat or have sensitive tummies.
đ Functional Treats We Also Love:
-
Dental chews (low-calorie and Yorkie-safe sizes)
-
Joint treats with glucosamine + MSM (for early prevention)
-
Freeze-dried salmon or pollock for added omegas and coat health
đŹ Final Thoughts
Giving your dog a treat doesnât have to feel like junk food.
There are so many incredible options that combine flavor, texture, and true wellness benefits.
Whether youâre training a puppy, rewarding calm behavior, or just want to say âI love you,â treats can be part of a nourishing routineânot a guilt trip.
And yes⌠mine still try to act like they havenât been fed all day. Every. Single. Time. đ
